Hi everyone

There's been a fair bit going on in the last couple of weeks over here, ampoule as well as back home. I spend most of my time working, treatment planning for work, dysentery planning to get more hours, eating and sleeping. Occasionally I get some time off, in which I rest by not leaving the apartment. Right now is one of those times, so I can throw a quick update into my blog.

With the amount of things happening in my real life, I don't have much energy left to blog properly, and it's only going to get worse in the next three weeks.  I begin a full-time job teaching in VAS (Vietnam Australia School), where I will be in class from 7:15am right through to 4:15pm. I teach ESL in the mornings and IT in the afternoons.  Once that finishes I rush straight to VUS for my night classes. I am continuing to teach on weekends as well, so from now on I won't have any days off.  I have to negotiate something there as I can't work without days off.

The full-time schedule lasts for two weeks while I fill in for a missing ESL teacher. Once he returns I continue teaching IT in the afternoons. Less hours, but still a big commitment. On top of that I am expected to complete an IT teaching certification within two months of starting the job.  Phew!

I'm about to organise the renewal of my visa, and I'll be getting a six-month, multiple-entry business visa. It's only $100 – big saving on what they cost back home!  This means I no longer need to leave the country as part of a visa run, but I have every intention of doing so simply because I bought the tickets. We'll see what happens – I'll have to make the call the week of the trip, and it will depend on my energy and what's happening at work.  If I can go, I'll be revisiting my old mates at Rock City Patong (Phuket, Thailand) for a couple of days.  On my return there is a Vietnamese public holiday, so I am going to try to take off for Cambodia, Na Trang, Da Lat or Mui Ne for a couple of days. It's all just theory right now, as I haven't been working long enough to demand days off.

Well, I have a couple of photos I want to upload, so need to go finish processing them.  Before I do, here's a couple of shots of my new bike.  The old one was playing up too much so the rental guy gave me his own. This is much nicer. It's red, so it goes with my helmet, it's red, so it's fast, and it's red so it's easier to see in parking lots.  Apart from being red, it has great mirrors – I haven't seen another bike with mirrors this big or effective.
I've also included a shot of my apartment block, as seen from the neighbouring one.

You may not hear much from me other than the odd one liner for the next few weeks, so if you want to explicitly make contact you'll need to either drop me a comment on my blog, or send me an email.
